Rhyming Eulogy Poem and Prayer for a Beloved Pet Memorial

When you lose a pet to death, you may try to mitigate the grief by telling yourself that he or she was 'only a pet'. However, rationalization does not erase the sorrow. Both adults and children will feel a sense of loss. Perhaps this poem will help. The loss of a pet can be very traumatic to some people. Others may not be affected as deeply. However, anyone who has offered heart and home to a pet will mourn to some degree. Death, whether of a beloved friend, relative, or an animal who has shared one's life, will cause various stages of grief, including denial, anger, depression, and ultimate acceptance. Children are especially vulnerable to depression and an ongoing sense of loss. It is healthy to mourn and to come to terms with the loss of a being that has been an important part of your life. Perhaps this poem will help you to cope. Only a Pet 'Only a pet' - that's what they say; So why am I weeping and grieving this way? 'Only a pet' - but cherished by me - And mourned by my friends and family. 'Only a pet' does not convey The loss and yearning I feel today. 'Only a pet' can never explain The ache I feel, with its burning pain. Thank you God, for the gift of this friend, For the lessons I learned, which will always transcend My feelings of loneliness, loss, and grief; And I pray to You now for peace and relief.
