Here are a few original verses that you can handwrite into a blank card, a card that will truly comfort a friend in mourning. Each verse is followed by a standard one-line condolence that you will hear and see in common use. You may want to substitute it with a note in your own words, or a common sympathy message from the last section of this article. Verse Number One Mortal for awhile, our friend so dear, Now gone from Earth, yet still right here! We mourn your loss, as we hope and pray, Warm memories will dispel your grief someday. Those we hold most dear, never truly leave us, Verse Number Two We share your sorrow, and want you to know, That our hearts are with you as you go Through this time of mourning, sadness, and pain. God be with you till you meet [NAME] again. Thinking of you at this difficult time, Verse Number Three We mourn your loss, and wish you the best, As your loved one embraces eternal rest, Safe in God's care, the angels attending, Enveloped by love, by rapture unending. With heartfelt condolences, Verse Number Four The world has lost a companion and neighbor, Who made the journey to a friendly harbor, Who basks in the joy of God's Love and Light, Where the skies are calm and there is no night.
