Poem #1 - Masculine Version

A Whispered Invitation

With weeping hearts,
We mourn our friend.
His sudden departure
We can't comprehend.

His love and strength
Have touched us all.
Though, gone too soon,
He answered the call

Of a whispered invitation
To join the celebration
With those gone before,
Who live evermore,
In God's embrace -
Granted by grace -
Bestowed in love -
By our Savior above.

We miss him, we mourn,
And wish he were here;
But death's not the end,
And need not cause fear;

We know we'll see him
On the other side,
When we go to join him.
'Till then we abide

In this world that feels
Empty, without his smile.
We celebrate his life,
'Till we walk that mile.

Poem #2 - Feminine Version

A Whispered Invitation

With weeping hearts,
We mourn our friend.
Her sudden departure
We can't comprehend.

Her love and strength
Have touched us all.
Though, gone too soon,
She answered the call

Of a whispered invitation
To join the celebration
With those gone before,
Who live evermore,
In God's embrace -
Granted by grace -
Bestowed in love -
By our Savior above.

We miss her, we mourn,
And wish she were here;
But death's not the end,
And need not cause fear;

We know we'll see her
On the other side,
When we go to join her.
'Till then we abide

In this world that feels
Empty, without her smile.
We celebrate her life,
'Till we walk that mile.
