After the death of a loved one, families and friends feel a need to remember their life in some way, to celebrate their passing. Any online search will return some really unique (and odd) ways to commemorate a loved one's passing, and here are the best I've found.

1. This idea is quite explosive, but did you know you can have the ashes of your loved one put inside specially created fireworks and fire them off into the night sky for a beautiful display?

2. Also along the line of ashes into sky, there is a company in the USA that fills rifle cartridges with cremated ash so that you can load them into your gun and shoot! (I'm sorry, but I just don't get that one!)

3. Along the same vein as the last idea, a company will make a cannon ball and incorporate the ash for you. All you have to do is fire it!!

4. How about some memorial jewellery? You can put the ashes into a locket and keep them close to you.

5. A really lovely eco idea is to use the cremated ash to form part of a coral reef. That way, you continue to support sea life and your ashes are put to good use.

6. If the person whose ashes you have was one for timekeeping (or if they loved eggs cooked in a specific way) then you can have their ashes put inside an egg timer!

7. I really love this one, and it is the idea of turning ashes into diamonds. A company in the USA specializes in this. It does take the best part of a year to produce the diamond, but what a lovely tribute!

8. If you love flowers, then there is a company that is able to mix ash with forget-me-not seeds and impregnate them into paper. After the funeral or on the anniversary of the loved one's death, you can give the seed paper to friends and family and think about the one you loved every spring when the forget-me-nots bloom.

9. You can even name a star after your loved one, and think about them when you look up into the night sky.

10. Lastly, if you love tattoos, then how about adding to your collection. However this time, have the cremated ash mixed with the ink and have your departed tattooed into your skin!
