A sad thing has occurred - the death of a loved one. And you will be the one to present the eulogy at the memorial service. Unfortunately, you have never done it before and if you are like most who have found themselves in your same situation, a few good eulogy examples would truly help you to prepare this eulogy.

It would be a good idea for you to do a search first for some eulogy examples on the web or even at your local library. You could look at some famous people eulogies to get an idea of what they have said, but truthfully, these are probably not suited to your specific needs.

Let's look at what a good eulogy should consist of.

Mostly, you need to remember that even though you and those who will attend the memorial service are grieving and the natural inclination is to share your grief in the eulogy, this is not actually what you should do. You should try to create a eulogy that celebrates the life of the person who has passed on. In most of the eulogy examples that you can find, you will see that they honor the person. They speak to their good qualities and the positive ways that they affected others.

Occasionally, you may find yourself in a situation where the deceased person had qualities that were more negative than positive and this can be a challenge. Yes, these qualities probably need to be acknowledged, but look at eulogy examples to see how the problem is addressed.

Mostly what you need to keep in mind is that a eulogy is a well-written, meaningful, and insightful recognition and celebration of a person's life and accomplishments.

Another thing to consider about the eulogy is not just how you write it, but your delivery of it. Again, you are celebrating the person's life. You are honoring that person. So when you look at eulogy examples, imagine how the speaker delivered the speech. If possible, try to find some footage that you can view of people who have delivered beautiful eulogies.

Remember this as well, if you are well prepared, you will do much to help alleviate the grief of others as well as yourself.
